Opera at the Ballpark: Since 2007, the annual Opera at the Ballpark simulcast has broadcast live performances from the War Memorial Opera House to the high-definition jumbo screen at Oracle Stadium, home of the San Francisco Giants, in front of an average audience of 20,000, including many families with children. This free community event is one of the Company's most successful and effective outreach and audience development initiatives.
Opera in the Park: San Francisco Opera's annual Opera in the Park concert is a musical gift to the Bay Area. Kurt Herbert Adler, the late General Director of San Francisco Opera, founded this annual free concert in 1971 and since that time, this September concert has marked the unofficial opening of the Opera's fall season. Each year, an average of 15,000 audience members bring their blankets and picnics to the Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park and spend an enjoyable afternoon listening to world-acclaimed singers, along with the Opera's young resident artists, the Adler Fellows, and the renowned San Francisco Opera Orchestra.
