SFOpera - Intermission

Intermission

Most opera intermissions are 20–25 minutes long. It's enough time for the artists to prepare for the next act, the crew to change the set and for you to explore the Opera House.

  • EAT AND DRINK

Pre-order to skip the lines! Pick up your order during intermission at the Dress Circle Lounge. Call (415) 861-8150 at least 24 hours in advance or arrive early and ask your bartender. In the mood for some bubbly? Pre-order a special Champagne Experience.

  • EXPLORE

Take in the beauty of the historic War Memorial Opera House, and visit the outdoor Loggia to have an incredible view of San Francisco and City Hall. If you have questions about what you see, stop by the friendly Main Lobby Welcome Desk. Or, visit the Opera Shop located on the South Mezzanine for San Francisco Opera memorabilia, including DVDs and commemorative posters.

  • SEE BEHIND THE SCENES

Have you always wanted to see the inner workings of our stage? At select performances, our curtain is open during intermission and we narrate the live changeover. We also take questions live on Twitter using the hashtag #OpenCurtain.

  • TAKE A SELFIE

Visit our photo corner in the Main Lobby. Snap a photo, post it to our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages with #SFOselfie and automatically be entered to win a free pair of box seats.

  • You'll know it's time to return to your seat when you hear the bells chime. Chimes sound eight, four and two minutes before the performance begins.
