Who It's For
Grades K–6
Program Length
up to 14 class visits
Requirements
2-3 hour planning/professional development meeting for all participating educators, and ongoing planning meeting between the educators and Teaching Artist.
Suggested Lengths
4 Week Introduction to Opera: This residency is great for a classroom that is interested in a short introduction to one of the elements of opera.
8 Week Standard Residency: This residency is a more in-depth look at an aspect of opera with a weekly visit from one of our professional teaching artists.
10-14 Week Full Residency: Students and teachers will experience everything ARIA has to offer, and residencies may include “guest artists” to enhance the learning.
Cost
FREE; $100 registration cost per class. No school is turned away for lack of funds.

Opera ARIA (Arts Resources in Action) is San Francisco Opera's suite of in-school arts education programs. ARIA programs connect professional, artistic and creative elements with classroom curricula. Through the lens of opera, students are introduced to music, creative writing, dance, theater and visual arts.
The Opera ARIA Residency is built on these 3 key elements:
- In-school collaborative partnership between dedicated classroom teachers and SF Opera Teaching Artists.
- Participation in Professional Development sessions.
- Opera resources to ensure a multi-dimensional experience for students of all learning types.
