201718 Season: Poussette in Manon

Making her San Francisco Opera debut as Poussette, soprano Monica Dewey has participated in the young artist programs at Michigan Opera Theatre, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Chautauqua Voice Institute, and Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. Notable roles include Marie in La Fille du Régiment, Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Morgana in Alcina, Dalinda in Ariodante, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. She received her Master of Music degree from Indiana University and, most recently, won first prize in the 10th International Hilde Zadek Voice Competition in Vienna, Austria. In 2016, Dewey was the second place winner in the Central Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and she is a two-time winner of the Indiana District auditions. Her upcoming engagements include Alice B. Toklas in Ricky Ian Gordon’s 27 with the Michigan Opera Theatre and Alexandra Giddens in Regina with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.
