2017–18 Season: Costume Designer of Elektra

Making his American debut in Elektra, Swiss designer Kaspar Glarner began his theater career at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, and assisted stage designer Erich Wonder on several opera productions. Since then, his credits with director Keith Warner include costume designs for Death in Venice, Aribert Reimann’s Lear, and Falstaff at Oper Frankfurt; Tannhäuser and Simon Boccanegra at Opéra National du Rhin, Krzysztof Penderecki’s The Devils of Loudun for the Royal Danish Opera; Die Dreigroschenoper at Theater an der Wien; Otello at Royal Opera, Covent Garden; set designs for Die Frau ohne Schatten at Hamburg State Opera; and set and costume designs for Kát’a Kabanová at Theater an der Wien. He also works regularly with director Walter Sutcliffe, opera credits including set and costume designs for Owen Wingrave and The Turn of the Screw. Further opera work includes collaborations with directors Vincent Boussard, Dale Duesing, Johannes Erath, and Christine Mielitz.
