The Pirates of Penzance

Bring the sights and sounds of opera to your school with an assembly featuring the performance of your own students alongside professional singers. The 45-minute adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan's classic work reveals the heart of operetta — an engaging story, brilliant music and lots of fun.

When

September 30, 2019–December 6, 2019. Preliminary preparation and teacher training begins in early September.

Student Participation

Student actors from grades 4–8 perform in supporting speaking and acting roles. Actors must be chosen and lines memorized at least two weeks before the assembly. Schools can also include a chorus. The final performance is attended by the entire school.

Information for Teachers

A designated school facilitator responsible for preparing students and confirming all details is required. Preliminary preparation and facilitator coaching begins in early September.

Cost

$425. Scholarships are available for qualifying schools.
