San Francisco Opera welcomes Ring newbies of all ages for a day of community workshops and discovery.

Who It's For

Families interested in introducing The Ring to their children. Workshops are designed for various ages.

First Act: Teething Ring

Join First Act for families with young children. We’ll journey through Wagner’s epic adventure, The Ring, and meet fierce characters, learn legendary music and play lively games along the way. For children ages 2-5.


Sing a Story: Das Rheingold

Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:30AM

After a singing lesson and the musical telling of a classic opera story, a teaching artist unveils a magic bag full of props and costumes. The rest is history! For children ages 4-12.


Exploration Workshop: All About The Ring

Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1PM

Interactive family workshop to explore Wagner’s Ring cycle. Learn about the story, music, production design and characters – and discover the history and original tale which inspires this epic production. For children ages 6 and older.


Craft-making activities will occur throughout the day.

Snacks will be available at concessions for $2 (cash only).
