After the inaction of the California Senate to pass the Vision Act, which would have stopped ICE transfers after someone has served their incarceration time, and after almost a year of advocating for it, I was deflated. Once I thought about my community of family and friends, I knew I needed to gather my strength in myself. The Betta Fish, small but ready to defend, represents that. Even in all darkness and against tremendous odds, I will stand and defend our community.
