AUDITIONS: Opera Together Fall 2025
The Barber of Sevile

San Francisco Opera Guild will be producing in-school performances of Rossini's The Barber of Seville fall, 2025. This 45-minute opera reduction consisting of musical excerpts and spoken dialogue (both in English) features three professional singers, a collaborative pianist, and students from each school in smaller spoken roles.

Seeking qualified professional opera singers for the three roles of: Rosina, Count Almaviva, and Figaro and collaborative pianists. All roles will be quadruple-cast. We are looking for professional quality, experienced opera singers with good English diction, and the personality and communication skills to work eff ectively with school children.

DATES

  • Auditions: Friday, May 9 and Monday, May 12 by appointment only
  • Coaching (scheduled individually and in ensemble): August 25-September 5
  • Staging Rehearsals (weekdays, 10am to 2pm): September 10-24
  • Dress Rehearsals (10am to 2pm): September 25, 26
  • Meet the Artist Performance Event: September 29 (5-7pm)
  • In School Performances: September 30-December 12, 2025

All applicants must be available for daytime performances (Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:00pm) during the entire contracted period and be able to provide their own housing, and transportation to schools throughout the greater Bay Area. School performances are scheduled as day trips from your home base. All artists must be eligible to work in the United States.

AUDITION PREPARATION
Selections must be sung in Italian or in any English translation – page numbers refer to Ricordi score; condensed Opera Together versions in English of the following arias will also be made available.

COMPENSATION
All San Francisco Opera Guild contracted as employees for the duration of their engagement in the program.
Coaching/Rehearsal: $35/hour
Team teaching/rehearsal with students: $70/hour
Performance: $100/hour (show)
Travel: $.70/mile for all travel to and from performances
Tolls: Reimbursed to driver
Parking: Up to $10/day for rehearsal period
