Andrew Truett

Tenor

Born less than a mile from the San Francisco Opera House, Andrew Truett, began singing with the San Francisco Opera Chorus in 2005. Andy began singing with his family at age four. After joining his first chorus at nine, he quickly moved onto performing musical theater, acting in straight theatre, and playing alto saxophone, flute, piano and guitar.

After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in voice, Andy spent two summers at the Music Academy of the West under the tutelage of Marilyn Horne. He then moved on to become a young artist with the San Diego Opera, the Cincinnati Opera, and a Resident Artist of Education with the San Francisco Opera Center.

Andy has performed with the majority of the smaller companies of the Bay Area, including West Bay Opera, Berkeley Opera, The Lamplighters Musical Theatre, The Mountain Play, and Pocket Opera. He is a longstanding performer with San Francisco Opera Guild's Opera á la Carte, and has performed for literally thousands and thousands of Children throughout the Bay Area.

Andy's most performed role is Count Almaviva in Rossini's The Barber of Seville. He performed two tours of this show with the San Diego Opera Ensemble. If combined with the two tours of this show he performed with Opera á la Carte, the grand total of performances exceeds three hundred. He has performed this show in Italian, English and in Spanish!
