2018–19 Season: Costume Designer, Rusalka
Costume designer Moritz Junge made his San Francisco Opera debut in 2015 with Les Troyens and he returns this season for Rusalka. His other work for opera includes sets and costumes for Così fan tutte (Opera Australia) and Powder Her Face (Theater Aachen), and costumes for Norma, Roberto Devereux, and Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci (Metropolitan Opera).
Other recent costume work includes: Pure Dance (Sadler’s Wells), Songs of Bukovina (American Ballet Theatre), Sunyata (Munich Staatsballet), L’Anatomie de la Sensation (Paris Opera Ballet), Outlier (NYCB), and Dyad 1929 (Australian Ballet). For the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, his costume work includes Multiverse, Live Fire Exercise, Limen, Infra, and Chroma.
Designs for theater include Dance Nation and Judgment Day (Almeida); Aristocrats (Donmar); Macbeth, The Kitchen, Dido, and Queen of Carthage (National Theatre); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Shakespeare’s Globe); In the Republic of Happiness (Royal Court); and All About My Mother (Old Vic). He also designed costumes for the London 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony. Junge was an overall winner of the Linbury Prize for Stage Design.
