San Francisco Opera violist Natalia Vershilova was born in Leningrad and graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory, where she studied with the renowned violist Professor Yuri Kramarov. While still a student, she played with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra and the Maly Opera Theater of Leningrad.
Before coming to the Bay Area in 1980, Natalia resided in Honolulu, Hawaii where she appeared as soloist with the Honolulu Symphony and taught violin and viola at Punahoe School. She has performed both as soloist and as a member of Foyer Des Artistes Chamber Orchestra in Rome, and with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra in New York.
As a soloist, Natasha has appeared with Sinfonia San Francisco, Russian Chamber Orchestra, and San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. She has also served as Principal Violist with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Symphony, and Russian Chamber Orchestra and has performed with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and the Elixir Chamber Ensemble.
Natalia has been a resident of San Francisco for more than twenty years. She teaches privately, and frequently performs with various ensembles throughout the Bay Area.
