I, Roberta Bowman, mezzo soprano, have been a participating member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus since 1976. This makes thirty one opera contracts stacking up in my work file. To say that music is an important part of life to me would be an understatement. I agree with Nietzche when he said, "without music, life would be a mistake." Having graduated with a degree in music from the University of California, Berkeley, I find variety in my musical life by also working for the San Francisco Boys Chorus in the financial department and for the newly formed San Francisco Festival Chorale as an administrator. Having studied and analyzed many musical styles, I have a particular fondness for the obscure opera aria and for the rarely performed art or cabaret song. It is with great satisfaction that I work with all of the wonderful staff and artists at the San Francisco Opera. It is fascinating to be a piece of the puzzle that eventually is fitted into a finished opera production. I am most grateful for this opportunity.
