201718 Season: De Brétigny in Manon

Finnish-American baritone Timothy Mix made his San Francisco Opera debut as Sonora in La Fanciulla del West and has since returned as Le Bret in Cyrano de Bergerac in 2010, Le Dancaïre in Carmen in 2011, and as Elder Ott in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah in 2014. Other career highlights include Ping in Turandot under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel at the Los Angeles Philharmonic as well as at Portland Opera; Ford in Falstaff and Edward Gaines in the New York premiere of Richard Danielpour and Toni Morrison’s Margaret Garner, both at New York City Opera; Michele in Il Tabarro and Tonio in Pagliacci at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis; and Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera and Ford in Falstaff, both at Washington National Opera. In the 2017–18 season, Mix will also perform as Jack Hubbard in the Santa Fe Opera’s new production of John Adams’ Doctor Atomic, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor at Virginia Opera, and Verdi’s Requiem with the Florida Orchestra.
