Best known for his productions of opera, English director Tim Albery comes from a theatrical family—the son of the impresario Donald Albery and grandson of the producer Sir Bronson Albery. He directed his first operatic production, Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, for a music festival at Batignano, Italy in 1983. From there he has gone on to direct productions on the world’s leading opera stages, including English National Opera; Scottish Opera; Royal Opera, Covent Garden; the Metropolitan Opera; and Bavarian State Opera.
