2017–18 Season: Flosshilde and Waltraute (Die Walküre) in Der Ring des Nibelungen
Mezzo-soprano Renée Tatum, a former Adler Fellow, made her Company debut in 2009 as Annina (La Traviata) and has returned as Inez (Il Trovatore), a Novice (Suor Angelica), a Slave (Salome), Emilia (Otello), and Flosshilde and Grimgerde in the 2011 Ring cycle. A graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, she made her Met debut in 2009 as Inez and has performed Second Lady (The Magic Flute), Fenena (Nabucco), La Haine (Armide), Emilia (Otello), Adonella (Francesca da Rimini), and Háta (The Bartered Bride) with that company. Other past engagements include Flosshilde with Washington National Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and Seattle Opera; the Third Lady with the Santa Fe Opera, Amando (Le Grand Macabre) and the Trainbearer (Elektra) with the New York Philharmonic; the Secretary (The Consul) with Chautauqua Opera; and Bersi (Andrea Chénier) with Mobile Opera. This season’s engagements include Flosshilde with the Tanglewood Music Festival; Jenny in The Threepenny Opera with Boston Lyric Opera; Third Flower Maiden in Parsifal at the Metropolitan Opera; soloist in Penderecki’s Credo with Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra; and Ensemble for the Romantic Century’s production of Van Gogh’s Ear at the Pershing Square Signature Center in New York City.
