Soprano Heidi Stober made her San Francisco Opera debut in 2010 as Sophie (Werther) and has since returned as Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Atalanta (Xerxes), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Nannetta (Falstaff), Magnolia Hawks (Show Boat), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), Johanna (Sweeney Todd), and Norina (Don Pasquale). As a principal artist with Deutsche Oper Berlin, her engagements with that company have included Oscar, Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Marguerite (Faust), Pamina, Micaëla (Carmen), and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel). Stober made her Metropolitan Opera debut in the 2011–12 season as Gretel, returning to the company in recent years as Pamina and Oscar. Other notable appearances include Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, Susanna, and Atalanta with Houston Grand Opera; Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore at the Vienna State Opera; the title role of Semele with Garsington Opera; the title role of Alcina at the Semperoper Dresden; Valencienne in The Merry Widow at Lyric Opera of Chicago; La Folie in Platée, Tigrane in Radamisto, and Sandrina in La Finta Giardiniera at the Santa Fe Opera. Later this season, she performs Antigone in Enescu’s Oedipe at Dutch National Opera (a house debut), Micaëla and Pamina at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Dalinda in a new production of Ariodante at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Angelica in Orlando at San Francisco Opera.
