2018–19 Season: Clara in It's a Wonderful Life
Making her San Francisco Opera and role debuts as Clara, soprano Golda Schultz is a graduate of the Juilliard School and a former member of the ensemble of Munich’s Bavarian State Opera where she appeared in a wide variety of roles, including Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Liù in Turandot, Musetta in La Bohème, Micaëla in Carmen, Freia in Das Rheingold, and Pamina in The Magic Flute. After a successful Salzburg Festival debut as Sophie in 2015, Schultz returned in summer 2017 as Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito. The 2018–19 season brings Schultz’s debuts at the Vienna State Opera and Zurich Opera House as the Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro and a return to the Metropolitan Opera as Nannetta in Falstaff. A frequent concert soloist, she joins conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra for Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, Riccardo Minasi and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin for Beethoven and Mozart, and Hannu Lintu and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra for Mahler’s Second Symphony. After a highly acclaimed debut recital at London’s Wigmore Hall last season, Schultz and pianist Jonathan Ware reunite for an all-Schubert recital at Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal.
