201617 Season: Leporello in Don Giovanni

Making his San Francisco Opera debut as Leporello, bass Erik Anstine performed the same role with Seattle Opera in 2014. More recent appearances include the Bonze in Madama Butterfly with Palm Beach Opera, Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro and Oste/Sergente in Manon Lescaut at the Salzburg Festival. Anstine recently completed his four-year tenure with the ensemble of Zurich Opera, during which time he performed Colline in La Bohème, Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro, Biterolf in Tannhäuser, and Second Soldier in Salome. As a member of Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program, he appeared as the Captain in Eugene Onegin, Frère Jean in Roméo et Juliette, and Der Tod in Viktor Ullman’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis. Anstine has also been a member of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program. Next season, he appears as Leporello with Edmonton Opera.
