Bass Andrea Silvestrelli made his San Francisco Opera debut in 1998 as Oroveso in Norma and has since returned as Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Il Talpa (Il Tabarro) and Simone (Gianni Schicchi) in the Company’s production of Il Trittico, Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Fasolt and Hagen in the 2011 Ring cycle, and Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). His most recent Company appearances including Wurm in Luisa Miller, Night Watchman in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo. Hehas also sung Simone and Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at Los Angeles Opera; Sparafucile at Houston Grand Opera and Washington National Opera; Hunding and Fasolt in Seattle Opera’s Ring cycle; Colline (La Bohème), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), and Timur (Turandot) at Lyric Opera of Chicago; Sarastro and Osmin at Santa Fe Opera; Fafner at  Deutsche Oper Berlin; Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) in Chicago; and Sparafucile in his Metropolitan Opera debut. Silvestrelli also appears as Sparafucile in San Francisco Opera’s summer 2017 production of Rigoletto, and he returns to the Company next summer as Hagen and Fasolt in the Company’s Ring.
