2017–18 Season: Hagen and Fasolt in Der Ring des Nibelungen
Bass Andrea Silvestrelli made his San Francisco Opera debut in 1998 as Oroveso in Norma and has since returned as Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Il Talpa (Il Tabarro) and Simone (Gianni Schicchi) in the Company’s production of Il Trittico, Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Fasolt and Hagen in the 2011 Ring cycle, and Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). His most recent Company appearances include Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Wurm in Luisa Miller, Night Watchman in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo. He has also sung Simone and Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at Los Angeles Opera; Sparafucile at Houston Grand Opera and Washington National Opera; Hunding and Fasolt in Seattle Opera’s Ring cycle; Colline (La Bohème), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), and Timur (Turandot) at Lyric Opera of Chicago; Sarastro and Osmin at the Santa Fe Opera; Fafner at Deutsche Oper Berlin; Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro) in Chicago; and Sparafucile in his Metropolitan Opera debut.
