Creative and Digital Coordinator

To support all efforts surrounding ticket sales, audience development, and audience retention campaigns for the San Francisco Opera. This position also traffics and supports all digital and graphics job requests in the Marketing and coordinates and assists all digital and social content for the Company. 

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum two (2) years’ experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Experience in a not-for-profit working environment preferred.


  • Experience with print production, graphic design and direct mail preferred.
  • Experience with social media content creation and engagement.
  • Experience with HTML formatting and Email marketing tools preferred.
  • Excellent proofreading skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to track financial expenditures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with CRM programs, Tessitura preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with artists, staff, the public, and volunteers in an effective, professional, confidential and tactful manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Preferred knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style or Associated Press style guides.
  • Ability to work independently; prioritize tasks; and exercise good judgment and initiative.
  • Work well in a team setting.
  • Familiarity with operatic repertoire and artists (preferred).
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend hours.
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.


  • Contribute as an active part of the marketing team, supporting all audience development, patron retention, advertising and promotional strategies to meet institutional goals.
  • Support and contribute to the comprehensive marketing campaign to generate over $20M in ticket sales.
  • Support and coordinate all graphic job requests within the organization to meet all printing and publishing deadlines.
  • Support web, e-mail, and digital requests within the organization to meet deadlines.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Creative and Digital in copy writing, posting, and engagement on all social media channels.
  • Maintain social media posting calendars and supports the implementation of social and digital campaigns.
  • Coordinate production schedules for marketing collateral and promotional campaigns.
  • Coordinate routing of marketing materials for internal and external editing and proofing.
  • Write draft marketing email copy for promotional and courtesy emails including monthly e-newsletter as assigned for supervisors’ review and approval.
  • Participate as a member of SFO’s Social Media Team.
  • Research opera repertoire, photographs, production and artist reviews.
  • With the Senior Manager, Creative and Digital, coordinate digital content and social media content across all platforms in support of SFO’s goals and policies. 


  • Build and extract lists from Tessitura for emails, digital campaigns, and list trade fulfillment.
  • Coordinate routing of single ticket materials for internal and external editing and proofing.
  • Assist with support and implementation of promotions designed to develop a new audience.
  • Maintain schedules and oversees creation of all promotional collateral and event signage.
  • Keep supply of all marketing collateral current and available on display on and off site at various locations in the surrounding area.
  • Prepare design, printing, and digital invoices for processing; maintains budget ledgers.
  • Attend performances; represent the Marketing Department at performances and events as requested.
  • Maintain digital archives of marketing collateral and promotional files as well as archiving of marketing collateral, including samples from other arts organizations, magazines/print media and vendors.
  • Manage department interns.
  • Provide basic administrative support to the marketing department.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
