Find out what a simulcast is all about!
San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco Giants invite you to Webcor Builders Presents Opera at the Ballpark on Friday, September 24 for a free, live simulcast of Verdi's Aida.
ADVANCED REGISTRATION: For best seating, register for early entry! Beginning at 6:30pm, registered fans can enter the park; entry for the general public begins at 7pm. All gates will open at 6:30 for our pre-registered fans! You must bring your barcoded confirmation printout for early entry.
FIELD SEATING: To sit on the field, we strongly suggest you enter the ballpark through the PORTWALK GATE (along the Marina side of the stadium), where you can exchange your barcoded printout for a field seating wristband. Arrive early; field seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registering for early entry to the simulcast does not guarantee field seating. Your whole party must be present at the time of entry, because once the Giants have determined the field is full, the Portwalk Gate will be closed to further admittance and no more field seating wristbands will be issued. Remember to bring your barcoded confirmation printout for early entry. You may bring blankets (no lawn chairs) to sit on the field.
DRAWING: Fans registered for tickets in advance will be automatically entered into our simulcast drawing. Grand Prize: A Grand Night at the Opera.
AT&T PARK RESTRICTIONS: Sealed plastic bottles and soft-sided juice containers are allowed in AT&T Park. Unsealed plastic bottles and soft-sided containers will be inspected and may be confiscated. Glass bottles and cans are not permitted in the ballpark. Alcoholic beverages (including non-alcoholic beer and wine) are not allowed to be brought into the park regardless of container. Paper or plastic grocery bags, purses, fanny packs, backpacks, lunch bags, diaper bags (backpack-style), soft-sided containers, handbags and briefcases are allowed into the ballpark as long as they do not exceed 16" x 16" x 8" in size. Schematic boxes are located at the gates for guests' reference. All bags will be thoroughly inspected before they are permitted into the ballpark. Hard-sided coolers will not be permitted. Bring blankets to sit on the field; no lawn or beach chairs will be permitted. AT&T Park Concessions will be open for the simulcast.
PURCHASE A PICNIC BASKET: Prepared picnic baskets are available for purchase from Giants catering. $60 advanced purchase; $70 at the event. Baskets serve two. Click here to Learn More.
CONCESSIONS: Traditional baseball game concessions will be available, providing audiences the rare opportunity to eat hot dogs, peanuts and garlic fries while watching the opera.
TECH SPECS: Through state-of-the-art technology made possible by the Koret-Taube Media Suite, this simulcast will be transmitted in 1920x1080 high definition (HD) to AT&T Park’s 103-feet wide Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision scoreboard—one of the highest quality outdoor scoreboards in the nation—live from the stage of the War Memorial Opera House. Concert quality audio combined with AT&T Park’s huge screen creates an unmatched operatic experience for attendees sitting in the stands and on the baseball field. Given the size of the AT&T Ballpark, please be advised that picture and sound synchronization are best in the center of the stadium, in the area behind home plate.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: AT&T Park in San Francisco is easily accessible by public transportation. BART riders should exit at the Embarcadero Station and transfer to Muni Metro (N or T-Line/inbound). Caltrain stops at Fourth and King Station, one block from the Ballpark. Valet bike parking is provided by San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. For more directions and public transit information, please click here.
PARKING: Parking can be found in the nearby baseball lots (for $20), or you may be able to find street parking nearby. For more information about parking, click here.
ACCESSIBILITY: *As with all other seating for the simulcast, due to the large number of registrants, checking the box to indicate you need wheelchair access does not guarantee seating at the simulcast. Please register early. Accessible seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately we can not guarantee seating in advance. Please allow extra time when arriving to ensure our best chance of providing seating for you. We will make every effort to accommodate your needs. Accessible drop-off zones are located at the Second and King entrance and on Third Street between Willie Mays Plaza and Lefty O’Doul Plaza. Accessible parking spaces are available in all Giants Parking Lots. Elevators are located at each of the three entrances to the ballpark. Customers with disabilities and their companions are given first priority for service at all elevators. Guest service personnel are posted at each ballpark entrance to assist any customer requiring assistance in locating seats and ballpark services. Accessible seating options exist throughout the ballpark, in all general seating categories and view perspectives. All amenities in the Ballpark are accessible.
OPERA LENGTH: The simulcast will last approximately 2 hours, 40 minutes, including 1 intermission, during which you can stretch, roam the ballpark, chat with friends or fellow fans or enjoy ballpark hotdogs and garlic fries.
ON-AIR HOSTS: KDFC will be the on-air hosts for the Aida simulcast. Look for them on screen before the show and during the intermission.
SUBTITLES: The simulcast will feature English subtitles on the ballpark’s high definition (HD) screen.
BOX OFFICE: If you have questions or need additional assistance, please visit the Box Office between the Lefty O’Doul entrance and the Portwalk gate along the Marina side of the stadium, where San Francisco Opera staff will be able to assist you.
