Through a partnership with UC Berkeley’s Cal Performances, the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis, San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa, San Francisco Opera brings free indoor simulcasts of Mozart’s Don Giovanni to four locations on Friday, June 22 at 8 pm.
These simulcasts are the first to utilize San Francisco Opera’s new Koret Media Suite, a high-definition video production facility in the War Memorial Opera House. It is the first permanent high-definition (HD) broadcast-standard facility installed in an American opera house. Through state-of-the-art technology the simulcast will be transmitted in 1920x1080 HD via satellite to the three venues live from the stage of San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House.
"I am excited that this one performance of Don Giovanni will reach nearly 9,000 people," said San Francisco Opera’s General Director David Gockley. "I am indebted to Robert Cole at Cal Performances, Rick Bartalini at the Wells Fargo Center, Ken Foster at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and Don Roth at the Mondavi Center for their commitment to bring new audiences to opera and the classical arts, and for the extraordinary resources they are contributing towards this partnership."
These simulcasts are free to the public but require a ticket for entrance. To reserve your free tickets, please contact the venues directly, as follows:
