Just announced: Stanford University's Frost Amphitheater joins San Francisco Opera as a second location for the FREE live simulcast.
This fall, we're bringing opera to you in a big way. Join us for a FREE live simulcast of Verdi's classic opera Rigoletto in one of two locations: Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco and Frost Amphitheater at Stanford University, starting at 8 pm. It will be an unforgettable evening of opera under the stars for the whole family.

Photo Drew Altizer | As the opera is being performed on stage inside the War Memorial Opera House, the video image of the performance will be projected with concert-quality audio for the Plaza and Amphitheater audiences. You'll be able to follow every bit of the action on screen with projected English subtitles.
If you have friends or family who would like to try opera for the first time, this free outdoor simulcast will be a perfect introduction. Our simulcast of Madama Butterfly last May brought a crowd of thousands to Civic Center Plaza, in what the San Francisco Chronicle called "an exciting evening for novices and aficionados alike." Round up your coworkers and start your weekend right at our simulcast! When you arrive, register your group at the Opera booth. At intermission, when we call out your company's name—make some noise! The group with the most spirit will win an exclusive backstage tour of War Memorial Opera House. One group from the Civic Center simulcast location will win a tour and one group from the Stanford University location will win a tour. Pick the venue closest to your office and come show some spirit. Minimum of ten people per group, some restrictions apply.
