Ticket Policy

Thanks for taking the time to learn about our ticket policies. A ticket is required for all patrons, even children (sorry, no babes in arms). Our policies are here to make sure you have the most enjoyable experience possible at San Francisco Opera.

  • Refunds
    Ticket sales are final and there are no refunds. Cast, programs, prices and schedules are subject to change. If you can’t use your tickets, please consider exchanging, donating or giving them to friends and family.

  • Exchanges for Mainstage Operas
    Can’t make your performance? Call or visit the Box Office to exchange your tickets into another performance during the same season for $25 per ticket plus any additional ticket cost. Exchanges can be made up to two hours before the performance. All exchanges are subject to availability and any price differential applies. Become a subscriber and save on exchange fees!

  • Rush Tickets for Mainstage Operas
    Students, seniors and military personnel are eligible for same day rush tickets to select performances. When available, rush tickets go on sale at 11am. Limit two (2) per person. Learn more.

  • Standing Room
    Approximately 200 standing room tickets are available for each performance at the War Memorial Opera House starting at 10am on the day of performance. Tickets are $10 each, cash only. Limit two (2) per person.

  • Donations
    Unable to use or exchange your tickets? Call the Box Office at least 10 minutes before the performance to return tickets for a tax-deductible donation.

  • Lost Tickets
    Misplace your tickets? Call or visit the Box Office and we’ll gladly issue reprints. If you received these tickets as a gift, please have the purchaser call the Box Office so they can release the tickets to you.

  • Print-at-Home
    For certain online purchases, we offer the option to print your tickets at home. Simply choose the print-at-home option at check out, if available. Your tickets and printing instructions will be emailed in a PDF attachment within 10 minutes of your purchase. 

  • Late Seating
    As a courtesy to artists and patrons, ticket holders who arrive after the performance begins will not be seated until the first intermission. 

  • 2016–17 Season and Ring Ticket Fees

    A $15 handling fee is charged for all subscription orders. A $12 handling fee is charged for single ticket orders place over the phone or online; this single ticket fee is waived for all purchases at the Box Office window. A $1 per-ticket facility fee is included in Balcony 1, 2 and 3 section prices; all other sections include a $2 per-ticket fee. Tickets for OperaVision performances include a surcharge: $9 for seats in Balcony 1, $7 for Balcony 2 and $5 for Balcony 3 (subscribers pay discounted OperaVision fees). All fees are non-refundable.

     

    2017 Fall Season Ticket Fees

    A $15 handling fee is charged for all subscription orders. A $2 per-ticket facility fee is included in Balcony 1, 2 and 3 section prices; all other sections include a $3 per-ticket fee. Tickets for OperaVision performances include a surcharge: $10 for seats in Balcony 1, $8 for Balcony 2 and $6 for Balcony 3 (subscribers pay discounted OperaVision fees). All fees are non-refundable.

  • SF Opera Lab
    All orders are final; there are no refunds or exchanges. Casting, programs, prices and schedules are subject to change. A $5 Wilsey Center handling fee is charged per phone and online order. This fee is waived for purchases at the Box Office window.
