Petrika Ionesco

Franco-Romanian director Petrika Ionesco made his San Francisco Opera debut in 2010 with his production of Cyrano de Bergerac, which received its premiere in Paris in 2009. He directs and designs operas, musicals, ballets, and plays at the most prestigious international venues, including the Paris Opera (Boris Godunov, Meyerbeer’s Robert le Diable), Bordeaux Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, Milan’s La Scala, Vienna State Opera, Stuttgart State Opera, Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, and in Geneva, Monte-Carlo, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Helsinki. Ionesco’s other career highlights include include Macbeth in Bucharest, Simon Boccanegra in Liege, The Queen of Spades with Lyon Opera, and Boris Godunov at the Santander Festival in Spain, among others.
