Jess Goldstein

Costume designer Jess Goldstein made his San Francisco Opera debut with his work on 2011's Heart of a Soldier. Recent opera credits include Il Trittico (Metropolitan Opera); Lucia di Lammermoor (Washington National Opera); Agrippina, Of Mice and Men, and The Pirates of Penzance (for New York City Opera and Glimmerglass Opera); and the world premiere of Jake Heggie's The End of the Affair (Houston Grand Opera). On Broadway he has designed Jersey Boys (also for London and international tours), The Merchant of Venice (for which he earned two Tony nominations), and Lincoln Center Theater's The Rivals for which he was awarded a 2005 Tony Award. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and has served as a professor of theater design there since 1990.
