Catherine Zuber

CATHERINE ZUBER made her San Francisco Opera debut with the 2008 production of Das Rheingold and her designs will be seen throughout the Company's new Ring cycle. Past operatic credits include Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Metropolitan Opera and La Fête des Vignerons at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland. Zuber’s work on South Pacific, The Coast of Utopia, The Light in the Piazza, and Awake and Sing! earned her Tony Awards for best costume design. The Coast of Utopia also earned her a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award. She was nominated for three more Tony Awards for designs of Edward Albee’s Seascape, Dinner at Eight, and Twelfth Night. Zuber’s other Broadway credits include Mauritius, Little Women, Doubt, Frozen, Dracula, The Sound of Music, and Triumph of Love. Zuber has received the Henry Hewes Award for Design (2003, 2004, 2007), the Lucille Lortel Award (2004, 2005), an Ovation Award, and Obie Awards for Sustained Achievement (1997, 2005). Recent projects include Roméo et Juliette at the Salzburg Festival and Doctor Atomic and The Tales of Hoffmann at the Met.
