Assistant Principal Cello
Budd was born in Glendale, California and studied both the piano and the cello from an early age. He attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree and a Performers Certificate.
Upon graduation Mr. Budd won a position in the Rochester Philharmonic; two years later he joined the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., conducted at that time by Mstislav Rostropovich. He joined the San Francisco Opera Orchestra in 1983. He has also been a member of the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra.
David is an avid record collector with a large collection of 78 rpm records featuring many of the great singers and instrumentalists of the early 20th century.
