Sonya Yoncheva

Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva makes her San Francisco Opera debut in the title role of La Traviata, a role she has performed at Berlin State Opera, Munich’s Bavarian State Opera, and in Monte Carlo and Valencia. Winner of the 2010 Operalia Competition, Yoncheva has appeared as Gilda (Rigoletto) at the Metropolitan Opera; Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at Deutsche Oper Berlin; in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor with Paris Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin; Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) in Avignon; Musetta (La Bohème) with London’s Royal Opera, Covent Garden; the title role of Thaïs with Moscow’s Novaya Theater; the title role of L’Incoronazione di Poppea in Lille and Dijon; Norina (Don Pasquale) in Madrid; and Leïla (Les Pêcheurs de Perles) at the Paris Opera Comique. A graduate of the Jardin des Voix in Paris, Yoncheva will appear as Mimì (La Bohème) with the Company this fall.
