Italian tenor Massimo Giordano enjoys an international career as one of the leading singers in the beautiful and highly sought-after bel canto repertoire. He is known for his warm and virile tone, his expressive singing as well as his charming stage presence.
One of his signature roles is Don Jose in Carmen which he sings to great acclaim on opera stages around the world. In addition, his interpretation of the leading tenor parts in Tosca, La Traviata, La Boheme, L’elisir d’amore, Manon, Don Carlos, Norma or Werther made him a frequent guest on opera and concert stages such as Teatro alla Scala, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Vienna and Munich State Opera, the New York Metropolitan, Los Angeles and San Francisco Opera, the Opera National de Paris, the London Royal Opera Covent Garden and many others. He performs with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Maurizio Benini, Riccardo Chailly, Bruno Campanella, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Gianluigi Gelmetti, James Levine, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Jurowski, Antonio Pappano, Michel Plasson, Yuri Temirkanov, Fabio Luisi or Marco Armiliato and aside fellow opera singers like Anna Netrebko, Angela Gheorghiu, Elina Garanca, Susan Graham or Nathalie Dessay.
Highlights of the 2012/2013 season include performances of Tosca in Munich, Zurich, San Francisco, Bilbao, Berlin and at the London Royal Opera, the title role in a new production of Don Carlo at the Teatro Comunale in Florence and Attila in concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
In addition, the label BMG is re-entering the classical music market with Massimo Giordano as their first recording artist. His debut album of Italian arias will be released worldwide this year. The recording will feature signature arias from Italian operas such as Andrea Chenier, Manon Lescaut, La Gioconda, Simone Boccanegra, Madama Butterfly, Don Carlo, Turandot and many others.
Born in Pompeii, he shortly after moved to Trieste where he studied singing and graduated from the conservatory “G. Tartini”. Trieste is also the place he enjoys returning to in between his international engagements and where he still lives with his family today.
