Lucas Meachem

Lucas Meachem most recently appeared at San Francisco Opera in the title role of 2011's Don Giovanni. The baritone’s other Company engagements include the title role of Eugene Onegin, the dual role of Fritz and Frank in Die Tote Stadt, Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) and roles in productions of La Forza del Destino, Billy Budd, Doktor Faust, and The Magic Flute for Kids. The former Adler Fellow and Merola Opera Program alumnus made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2007 as General Rayevsky (War and Peace) and returned last season as Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette). Other recent engagements include Oreste (Iphigénie en Tauride) and Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at Lyric Opera of Chicago; Oreste and Fritz/Frank at Madrid’s Teatro Real; the title role of Billy Budd at the Paris Opera; the title role of Don Giovanni at the Santa Fe Opera, New Orleans Opera, and the Glyndebourne Festival; his Royal Opera, Covent Garden debut as Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas); Valentin (Faust) at Lyric Opera of Chicago; Count Almaviva at Munich's Bavarian State Opera; and Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) with Los Angeles Opera and Colorado Opera. He has also appeared as Wolfram (Tannhäuser) at Tokyo’s Saito Kinen Festival and Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) in Portland, Maine.  Recent and upcoming engagements include Count Almaviva at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) with San Diego Opera; Wolfram (Tannhäuser) in Toulouse; Marcello (La Bohème) with Lyric Opera of Chicago); and Don Giovanni in Dijon.
