American mezzo-soprano Irene Roberts (Giulietta) makes her San Francisco Opera debut in 2013. In the current season she appears in two productions in her debut season with the Metropolitan Opera: Le Nozze di Figaro and Parsifal. She also appears as Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) with Syracuse Opera. Other recent credits include Siébel (Faust) with Lyric Opera Baltimore and the title role of Carmen at Fresno Opera. On the concert stage, Roberts has appeared as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Duke University Orchestra. The California native’s other career highlights include Carmen and Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) with Townsend Opera; Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Emilia (Otello), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Amore (Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice) with Palm Beach Opera; and Siébel with North Carolina Opera. Roberts also won second prize in the advanced division at the 41st Annual Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition.
