Guang Yang

Winner of the 1997 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, Guang Yang makes her San Francisco Opera debut in a role she has performed at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Florida Grand Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and the Bregenz Festival. The Chinese mezzo-soprano’s recent engagements include Eboli (Don Carlos) with the Canadian Opera Company, Hong Kong Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Welsh National Opera; Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) with the Dallas Opera; and Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) with Lyric Opera of Chicago. A graduate of Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center, her many performances with that company include Suzuki and a multiple roles in Der Ring des Nibelungen. On the concert stage, Yang has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Washington D.C.’s National Symphony, the Orchestre de Paris, and the orchestras of Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Madison.
