Buffy Baggott

California native Buffy Baggott made her San Francisco Opera debut as Flosshilde in 2008's Das Rheingold. The mezzo-soprano garnered critical acclaim in 2006 when she created the role of Ellen in Berkeley Opera‘s production of Suprynowicz’s Chrysalis. She has performed Siegrune (Die Walküre) at Lyric Opera of Chicago and Canadian Opera Company. As a resident artist in the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, she created the role of Hennakh in the world premiere of Shulamit Ran’s Between Two Worlds (The Dybbuk). She appeared with Lyric Opera of Chicago in a wide array of role,s including the title role of Carmen, Flora (La Traviata), Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), a Flower Maiden (Parsifal), the Second Lady (The Magic Flute), and Mrs. Hayes (Susannah). Other notable credits include Sonyetka (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) and Flora at Canadian Opera Company; Maddalena (Rigoletto) at Tulsa Opera, Opera Grand Rapids and Canadian Opera Company; Nicklausse (The Tales of Hoffmann) at Portland Opera; Tisbe (La Cenerentola) on tour in Hong Kong with Los Angeles Opera; and Carmen and Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd) at Arizona Opera.
