Pianist and apprentice coach DAVID HANLON is a second-year Adler Fellow. In his first year, he assisted on productions of Siegfried, Heart of a Soldier, Don Giovanni and Carmen for Families and took part in Steven Blier's Amores Nuevos Schwabacher Debut Recital, playing piano as well as bongos and singing. He returns to Houston Grand Opera this March to serve as music director for the world premiere opera The Bricklayer, where he previously served as music director for the world premiere and commercial recording of the mariachi opera Cruzar la cara de la luna. A graduate of the Houston Grand Opera Studio, he served as principal coach for Chris Theofanidis's The Refuge, and assisted on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Lohengrin, Tosca and the world premiere of Previn's Brief Encounter. Mr. Hanlon is a 2010 alumnus of the Merola program where he worked on L’elisir d’amore as well as the Schwabacher Summer and Grand Finale Concerts. He holds bachelor's degrees in both music and classic from Wesleyan University and a master's degree in music from Manhattan School of Music.
