East Bay Chapter Spring Event - March 7, 2015
Opera Guild Opera Previews
Learn more about each opera's composer and librettist and historical and musical context at one of Guild's special preview lectures. These 90-minute sessions feature noted musicologists, composeers, librettists, and singers and are sponsored by the Bay Area's Opera Guild Chapters (East Bay, Marin, Peninsula, San Francisco and Sonoma) and the San Jose Opera Guild. Each session is illustrated by audio and visual examples and includes a question-and-answer and discussion period. Learn more here.
Backstage Tours of the War Memorial Opera House
Discover the magic that goes into creating an opera production! Visit backstage, guided by a trained San Francisco Opera Guild volunteer docent. During a 75-minute tour, you will visit the prompter's box, dressing rooms, wardrobe, and wig and makeup department in addition to other areas as available. Your guide will enchant you with insights about the architecture, colorful history and little-known facts about past performances. Advance reservations are required.

During the Off-Season:
Tours of the War Memorial Opera House and Davies Symphony Hall are held on Mondays except for holidays, every hour on the hour from 10 AM until 2 PM. General admission is $7 per person and $5 for students and seniors. They leave from the box office area of Davies on Grove Street. Reservations are not required.
