The Elixir of Love for Families
Donizetti'sThe Elixir of Love is a delightful comedy about the course of true love made smooth by a "magic" potion. This charming production is set in Napa Valley circa 1915. Created from San Francisco Opera's The Elixir of Love for Families in 2008, this one hour movie is a perfect way for children to learn about the magic of opera. The performance is in English, with English subtitles and is recommended for ages 4 and up.

The Barber of Seville for Families
We are excited to announce the release of our fifth Opera-in-an-Hour movie, Rossini's The Barber of Seville! In this charming opera, the dashing Count Almaviva and strong-willed Rosina fall in love. But Rosina's guardian, the insufferable Doctor Bartolo, wants to marry her himself. So, Count Almaviva enlists the help of Figaro, Seville's famous barber and jack-of-all-trades. With a series of disguises and tricks, they fool Doctor Bartolo and love triumphos over all! Recommended for ages 5 and up.

The Magic Flute for Families 
Bring your family on a magical journey with this 60-minute version of Mozart's famous opera, perfect for all ages. The Magic Flute is the charming story of Prince Tamino and bird catcher Papageno's journey to rescue Pamina, a beautiful princess who has been kidnapped by the magician Sarastro. Along the way they find their true loves and discover the virtues of wisdom and forgiveness. This production was presented for families at San Francisco Opera in 2007.

A 15-minute live introduction will precede each screening. The one-hour movie versions are produced by the Education Department for Bay Area School and Community Programs.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Doors will open 30 minutes before each screening.
