Dear Opera Lovers,
The pleasure of your company is requested at the opening of San Francisco Opera’s 91st Season, Opera Ball 2013: The Garden of Good and Evil.
This highly anticipated evening will take place on Friday, September 6th and will feature Arrigo Boito’s dazzling Mephistopheles
conducted by Music Director Nicola Luisotti.
Designed by internationally acclaimed event designer Colin Cowie, Opera Ball 2013
will begin at five o’clock in the evening with an elegant cocktail reception in the North Light Court of San Francisco City Hall. Guests will then be invited into the majestic Rotunda for an indulgent banquet orchestrated by celebrated caterer, McCalls Catering & Events. At eight o’clock, the curtain will rise for the opening night performance of Mephistopheles
at the War Memorial Opera House. Following the dramatic conclusion of Boito’s opera, patrons will return to City Hall for a night of decadence with cocktails, desserts and dancing the night away.
Annually, more than 60,000 students in over 230 schools throughout Northern California receive the benefits of arts education as only opera can deliver. With budget cuts all but eliminating the arts in schools, it is more important than ever to foster innovation and provide creative educational opportunities. Participation in Opera Ball
offers our partners the opportunity to share our passion and give voice to potential.
