Approximate running time: 90 minutes.

Learn more about each opera's composer, librettist, and historical and musical context at one of Guild's special Opera Previews. These 90-minute sessions feature noted musicologists, composers, librettists, and singers and are sponsored by the Bay Area's Opera Guild Chapters (East Bay, Marin, Peninsula, and San Francisco) and the San Jose Opera Guild. Each session is illustrated by audio and visual examples and includes a question-and-answer and discussion period.

LOCATION: New location, courtesy of the Friends of the Lafayette Library and Learning Center: Community Hall, Lafayette Library & Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, CA.

TIME: Lectures held at 8:00 p.m.

ADMISSION: $40 for the series of 5 lectures; $10 per single lecture. Except for The Flying Dutchman lecture, reservations and prepayment are not required but are helpful to speed up check-in. For The Flying Dutchman lecture, reservations are required and prepayment is requested.
