SAN FRANCISCO (November 11, 2011)—San Francisco Opera Center presents the culminating concert of the 2011 Adler Fellowship season, The Future is Now: The Adler Fellows Gala Concert, Thursday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Herbst Theatre in the War Memorial Veterans Building. The concert showcases the acclaimed Adler Fellows from San Francisco Opera Center’s prestigious young artist training program in a gala concert of opera scenes and arias—including works by Rossini, Massenet, Donizetti, Mozart, Handel, Strauss, Berlioz, Gounod, Mascagni and Verdi—with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra conducted by San Francisco Opera Resident Conductor Giuseppe Finzi.

The Future is Now features sopranos Susannah Biller (Georgetown, Tennessee), Leah Crocetto (Adrian, Michigan), Sara Gartland (Saint Paul, Minnesota) and Nadine Sierra (Fort Lauderdale, Florida); mezzo-soprano Maya Lahyani (Hod-HaSharon, Israel); countertenor Ryan Belongie (Beaver Dam, Wisconsin); tenors Brian Jagde (Piermont, New York) and Daniel Montenegro (Santa Ana, California); baritone Ao Li (Shandong, China); bass-baritone Ryan Kuster (Jacksonville, Illinois); and apprentice coaches David Hanlon (Arlington, Virginia) and Tamara Sanikidze (Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia).

Named for former San Francisco Opera General Director Kurt Herbert Adler, the Adler Fellowship Program is a performance-oriented residency offering intensive individual training, coaching, professional seminars and a wide range of performance opportunities throughout the fellowship. Adler Fellows also gain valuable professional experience by performing supporting roles in San Francisco Opera’s mainstage productions. The Adler Fellows are selected from the young artists who have participated in the Merola Opera Program.
